This book is probably the best of the later OZ books and one of the best in the series. As a kid, I read and reread the OZ books. As most people know, author L. Frank Baum tired of the books and wanted to end them after the sixth book -- The Emerald City of OZ. The weak sales of his non-OZ books and the clamor by readers for more OZ stories obliged him to continue writing them. Even as a kid, I thought the later OZ books were weaker than the earlier ones, with the last two -- The Magic of OZ and Glinda of OZ -- being particularly weak. The plots tended to be rather sketchy, centering on not always well-movitated journeys during which the familiar characters would encounter strange countries peopled by odd creatures, who were -- even to an eight-year old! -- often a bit tiresome. This book, though, stands apart, with an interesting and exciting plot, thoughtful characterizations, and much less formulaic adventures. Whether Baum put more effort into this one or whether he just happened to conceive a plot that inspired him, I don't know. In either case, I would highly recommend this book to anyone whose children might have read a few of the earlier books and might be getting a little tired of them. I would also recommend it to adults who read the book as a child and would like to revisit one of Baum's best books.
I love the Books of Wonder Series. They are well printed and relatively inexpensive. Unlike some of the cheaper -- in every sense! -- reprints of the OZ books that are available, these books allow the reader to recapture what it must have been like to find one of the original books under the Christmas tree 100 years ago.

A very charming book in the original Oz series. This is a mystery in which Ozma and various magical objects disappear and must be found by many beloved characters. Among new characters, I especially enjoyed the boastful human-sized Frog and the little pink bear who always tells the truth.
its a book. you read it and figure out for yourself if you like it or not. its not the new best seller. its a tried and true classic. you either know what you are getting or you dont. honestly if i knew i would be asked to review free movies and books i would have probably not gotten them in the first place. i dont have to review but writting reviews is the only way to keep the list short and manageable to gain access to the things that a review is truly vaild for.
This book came and is about the size of a coloring book. It's also abridged. Nothing like the original. I'm going to have to purchase another one that contains the whole story.
This review is for the physical edition of the book, not the content of the story. The story is the usual L. Frank Baum excellence, but this particular edition of the book is poorly put together. It arrived much larger than expected. The illustrations look as though they were scanned at a low resolution and then enlarged at the same low resolution, resulting in low-quality illustrations. Most of the pages have a dark background, as though they were simply scanned from another edition of the book and then printed as an image rather than as text. Do not consider this edition of this book. Keep looking for a better-quality edition.
While the story itself is great, this particular copy is not. This book was hastily made /printed on standard computer paper. The cover is heavily pixelated. If you are a fan of books, this abomination will make you cry.
This e-book is the Project Gutenberg online edition, one of many public domain books in e-book format supposedly for free. There are NO ILLUSTRATIONS! There is nothing about this book that indicates that it is a Barnes & Noble special edition. I figured this was the case and purchased the book to confirm it. I have the book with its original illustrations. The only positive about this book is that it is the original Baum story which is very fun to read.
This is yet another fun adventure in a magical country. Both with old friends, such as the Shaggy Man, Polychrome the Rainbow’s Daughter, and Tik-Tok the machine man, as well as new friends, Betsy Bobbin, Hank the Mule, and the people of Oogaboo, a province of Oz, this adventure also involves the infamous Nome King.
Full of magic and intrigue, ‘Tik-Tok of Oz’ is a grand journey in search of the long-lost brother of the Shaggy Man. The characters are as dear as you remember, and Betsy Bobbin is just as kind as Princess Dorothy herself. Though most of the journey is through magical kingdoms that are not Oz, the story culminates in that beautiful land, which is still ruled by the wonderful girl ruler Ozma.
If you enjoy the other Oz books, this book should be added to your collection. Written in the same, simple way as the others before it, and no less charming and magical, the continuation of the beloved world of Oz and the adventures of the many characters we’ve followed for so long is another mark in the legacy of the man who invented them.
