I'm going to repeat what has been said many times but it's true! This book perfectly sums up what I want my daughter to know without question I have never ending love for her. It's written beautifully and the illustrations are perfect. I love this book.
My 2 year old daughter loves this book and the other Tumford the Terrible book. She laughs out loud at all of the silly things this naughty cat does throughout the book. It's a current favorite and very different from what Nancy usually writes (we have all of those books too), but it's a nice departure. The other books are sweet and have a christian sort of undertone to them, but these are comical and cute. I think it's nice to not have just one type of book for kids. A little variety is good for them.
I love this author and I love this book! I have gifted this book to both of my adult daughters at different points in their lives, for different reasons. To let them know my love follows them wherever they go, beautiful words, beautiful illustrations! The first time I read this book it brought tears to my eyes in the bookstore. It had the same effect on my girls, it touches your soul. I love children's books, I have worked with children all my life, this is a special book.
ALL of Nancy Tillman's books are amazing. This one, however, is my favorite. We received it as a gift which sat on our bookshelf for some time until my daughter became interested in me reading to her. The first time I read this to her I had to hold it together to finish reading. The words are beautiful and convey exactly how I feel. I also love that I was reminded that God's love is like that too, it's with us wherever we go. I love it so much that I now include this book in my gift to any new mama I know.
I love Nancy Tillman books! I have bought books for each of my 5 grandchildren from the time they were born. I did the same for my now grown up boys. I believe in reading to your baby from the start. By the time they are toddlers, most children will know the words by heart. These books also hold up so well, they can be passed down or regifted later to other new parents. The story lines are so simple but loving. It makes me want to read them over and over, even when the kids are not with me. I think my favorite is "On the Night You Were Born. Or maybe, "Giraffes Can't dance". Or maybe, "Wherever You Are". All of her books are excellent and you or the parent you give these too for their baby will love them as much as I do.
I absolutely adore this book. I have a hard time swallowing the lump I get in my throat when I read it to my 2 year old. I had my daughter when I was 45, and deep down I know that I won't be around for her for as long as I'd like. I want her to grow up knowing that she can carry my love with her even when I'm not there in person. Nancy Tillman surely understands the tenderness of a mother's heart. I started buying this book and "The Crown on Your Head", for friends having babies. Wouldn't it be wonderful for every child to grow up knowing how important and loved they are?
This is one of the most beautiful children's books I've ever read. This past week, while my daughter and I were walking through the gift shop of the hospital my son was having his procedure in waiting for him to come out, I found a cloth version and a giraffe stuffed animal meant to match with it. I purchased them, because even the condensed version in the cloth book brought tears to my eyes, it so matches the deep feelings of a mother's heart.

I told my daughter, even though I am giving this to him, because really, it's a book meant for a baby or a toddler, and you're not that, these are the words I feel about you too. And when I got home I decided to check to see if there was a board book version. I didn't mind buying him the cloth version, because to be honest, because of his particular cocktail of medical challenges, he's going to chew on it anyways, and the cloth one will undoubtedly survive that better. But I wanted any expanded version that existed, and I'm glad that I did.

It is simple, eloquent, lovely beyond expression, and profound in it's expressions of a parent's love. It is how I feel about my little ones every second of the day, even though they are not exactly little, her because of age, him because his genetics just call for size. This is a deeply moving and beautiful book.
